Meet Neal Tapio

Neal Tapio was born and raised in Watertown and is a 1988 graduate of Watertown High School. He is a 4th generation South Dakotan where the Prouty family homesteaded in Hamlin County.

As a successful entrepreneur, Neal has been a business owner for 20 years and currently is the President of NT Sales and Leasing, Inc. of Watertown since 2010 which specializes in the sales and financing of industrial cleaning equipment for the transportation, oil and agriculture industries.   Neal’s company routinely services Fortune 50 corporations in the energy industry, often placing Neal in high stakes and high dollar negotiations in the boardrooms of some of the largest companies in the world.

Neal graduated from Moorhead State University and began his career working for Senator Larry Pressler in Washington DC. He then worked in the finance industry for Wells Fargo in Rapid City.

Tapio founded New Horizon Homes in Sioux Falls, a builder of single-family homes. He worked as the membership director of Growth Energy, an ethanol trade association. He has volunteered for numerous political campaigns including Senator John Thune and was the campaign manager for Larry Diedrich for Congress.

In 2016, Neal Tapio was elected to the South Dakota Senate from District 5 in Watertown.  That same year, he became State Director for Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign.  Neal is a vigorous defender of President Donald Trump’s policies and accurately predicted Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton at a time when pundits and polls were predicting a Clinton landslide and even South Dakota’s congressional delegation and Governor were calling on Trump to drop out of the race.

Neal looks forward to serving the State of South Dakota and the United States in Congress by protecting the American Dream for future generations.
